''Dis ek, Anna'' is a South African (Afrikaans) drama based on the two top selling novels by Anchien Troskie (writing as Elbie Lotter) called ''Dis ek, Anna'' (''It's me, Anna'') and ''Die Staat teen Anna Bruwer'' (''The State vs Anna Bruwer''). Set in modern day South Africa, it tells the story of Anna Bruwer who avenges the years of abuse suffered at the hands of her step father and the court case that ensues. Written by Tertius Kapp. Produced by Niel van Deventer. Directed by Sara Blecher and starring amongst others Charlene Brouwer, Marius Weyers, Nicola Hanekom, Morne Visser, Drikus Volschenk, Elize Cawood and Eduan van Jaarsveld. Based on the book Dis ek, Anna( It's me, Anna) the story revolves around a young girl trapped between her stepfather and the world. The story based on the book goes, her stepfather raped and abused her, her brother, and her younger sister. Eventually she had enough and killed him (her stepfather), although after her little sisters suicide. Anna: She is the main antagonist in the movie and book. A first person view as to how, her stepfather abused her. the entire book, and movie revolves around her experiences with her father, stepfather, mother and several individuals. Ultimately it leads to her salvation as well as her regression to murderer. Carli: Anna's little sister, Both parents are her stepfather as well as Anna's biological mother. she is also raped and abused by her step-dad, until she comes to Anna, and commits suicide. Danie du Toit : He is Anna's stepfather and abuses and rapes her and her sister Carli. He is also responsible for the beating and leaving of Klein- Danie (Danie Jnr) Danie (jnr) : He is the half brother of Carli and Anna.
